Camille abducted to Costa Rica

My daughter Camille, a U.S. citizen, was abducted to Costa Rica by her mother Carolina Berrocal on September 3, 2019.  She has taken up residence with her politically powerful family, headed by Fernando Berrocal Soto, who is complicit in the abduction.  The costs to fight via the Hague Convention to return Camille to all her friends and family is expected to run in excess of $100,000.  Please help us end this abduction and bring home a happy 11-year old who is longing for the life she had.  Thank you.

ONE YEAR UPDATE:  It has now been over a year.  Costa Rica has violated  the Hague Convention at every turn.  The child is to be reconnected with the  father.  She is not.  The hearing was to be held in six weeks.  It was not.  PANI, Costa Rica Child Services and their State Department, are to remain neutral.  They do not.  Because of the bad behavior, the US State Department added Costa Rica to the annual list of non-compliant nations and issued a formal demarche in May 2020.  Sanctions against Costa Rica are next.

Some important details:  Camille testified that she wanted to return to the United States.  Costa Rica ignored Camille's wishes while the Berrocal family has asserted multiple times that Camille chooses her situation.  Camille is inflicting self-harm, a  behavior psychologists all agree is a coping mechanism from being  alienated from all her friends and family here.  These are examples of why both the  Hague Convention and the UN Convention on the rights of a Child define Carolina's actions as child abuse.  Carolina will try to argue she is fleeing abuse, but Children's Protection, the psychologists here, the police, and even Camille's doctor have come forward to say this narrative is not true.  Further, if it were true, Carolina would not need to abduct Camille, not would Carolina need to destroy Camille's friendships.  As the Hague Convention states, this must be settled in the United States, as this is where all the witnesses and evidence are.  Carolina does not have a single American witness.  In fact, her exes and former friends have join our cause.

Se espera que los costos de luchar a través de la Convención de La Haya devuelvan a Camille a todos sus amigos y familiares se ejecutarán por encima de los 100.000 dólares. ACTUALIZACIÓN DE UN año: Ha pasado más de un año. Costa Rica ha violado la Convención de La Haya en todo momento. El niño debe ser reconectado con el padre. No lo es. La audiencia se iba a celebrar en seis semanas. No fue así. PANI, Costa Rica Child Services y su Departamento de Estado, deben permanecer neutrales. No lo hacen. Debido al mal comportamiento, el Departamento de Estado de los Estados Unidos añadió a Costa Rica a la lista anual de naciones no conformes y emitió un demarche formal en mayo de 2020. Algunos detalles importantes: Camille testificó que quería regresar a los Estados Unidos. Costa Rica ignoró los deseos de Camille mientras que la familia Berrocal ha afirmado varias veces que Camille elige su situación. Camille está infligiendo autolesiones, un comportamiento que todos los psicólogos están de acuerdo es un mecanismo de afrontamiento de ser alienado de todos sus amigos y familiares aquí. Estos son ejemplos de por qué tanto la Convención de La Haya como la Convención de las Naciones Unidas sobre los derechos de un niño definen las acciones de Carolina como abuso infantil. Carolina tratará de argumentar que está huyendo del abuso, pero Children's Protection, los psicólogos aquí, la policía e incluso el médico de Camille se han presentado para decir que esta narrativa no es cierta. Además, si fuera cierto, Carolina no necesitaría secuestrar a Camille, no tendría que destruir las amistades de Camille. Como dice la Convención de La Haya, esto debe resolverse en los Estados Unidos, ya que aquí es donde están todos los testigos y pruebas. Carolina no tiene un solo testigo americano. De hecho, sus ex y ex amigos se han unido a nuestra causa.
