A Little About Me
In August, I lost my driving licence after reaching 12 points. It was a real wake-up call. But instead of feeling sorry for myself, I’ve decided to use this moment to turn things around — physically and mentally.
With my 43rd birthday just around the corner, I’ve committed to a running challenge throughout October, building up from 1.0 mile to 4 miles over 18 runs. Weighing 134kg, this will not be easy — I’m not a runner by any stretch — but I’m determined to do it.
Why I’m Doing This
This challenge is about more than just me getting fitter. I’m using it as an opportunity to raise funds for three amazing causes:
Mesothelioma UK
In memory of Ian Brown, father of Suzanne and Nikki — two incredible people who lost a great man to this devastating disease.
Chorley FC Community Foundation’s Big Sleep Out
Helping raise awareness and support for those affected by homelessness in our community.
⚽ Chorley FC Women’s Team
I help coach this brilliant team of women and girls — they represent the future of local football, and they deserve every bit of support.
The Challenge: 43 Miles in 18 Runs
October Schedule:
1st – 1.0 mi | 3rd – 1.0 mi | 4th – 1.5 mi
6th – 2.0 mi | 8th – 2.0 mi | 10th – 2.0 mi
11th – 2.5 mi | 13th – 3 mi | 15th – 2 mi
17th – 3 mi | 18th – 2.0 mi | 20th – 2.0 mi
22nd – 2.0 mi | 24th – 3 mi | 25th – 2.0 mi
27th – 2.0 mi | 29th – 3.0 mi | 30th – 3.0 mi
31st – 4 mi
That’s 43 miles in total — one for every year I’ve been around.
How You Can Help
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every pound raised will be split equally between:
1. Mesothelioma UK
2. Chorley FC Community Foundation
3. Chorley FC Women’s Team
Your support will not only help these causes — it’ll also push me through every tough mile along the way.
Final Word
I know this won’t be easy — but with your support, I know I can do it. Thank you for reading, thank you for donating, and thank you for backing these amazing organisations.
Let’s do this Craig x
