400k In A Day (250 Miles In 24 Hours)

I'm embarking on an incredible challenge – cycling 400km in a single day – to raise £1,500 for Angels and Rainbows, a vital pregnancy and baby loss support group. They provide counseling and resources to those deeply affected by pregnancy or baby loss, helping them through one of life’s most painful experiences.

The emotional pain of pregnancy and baby loss is indescribable, and finding the right support can be life-changing. Angels and Rainbows offers counseling services to help families heal, but these services can be costly. My goal is to raise £1,500 so that those in need of support don’t have to face financial barriers during such a difficult time.

Since taking up cycling during the Covid-19 pandemic, I have covered a few cycling challenges, but none as big as this!

A little more about me: I'm 62, I'm a Father and a Grandad. Having spoken with the wonderful Justine at Angels and Rainbows, who has experienced two losses herself, I realised that this was a cause that I would love to be able to contribute towards, in whatever way I can.

That's why I've decided to undertake a journey of 400km (250 miles) in 24 hours, from Diss to London, then on to Dunwich Beach through the night (hoping to catch the sunrise from the sea!), and then back to Diss - where I hope to rendezvous with some cycling buddies to see me home. I will be using a normal eleven-speed bike (not power-assisted), with adequate fuel and refreshment stops to keep me going. My friends and family think I must be mad!

Please give whatever you feel you can afford - any contribution is hugely appreciated and will make all the difference.

I will begin the challenge at approximately 9:00am Saturday Morning (12/07/25).

Wish me luck!
