4 Peak Challenge - Raising Funds for Teac Tom

Jack Manning, Marcus Harrington and myself will be taking on the 4 peaks challenge from the 19th of August to the 21st of August, where we will be taking on the endeavour of climbing the highest peak in each province over just 3 days. A total of 49.2km of round-trip hiking between the 4 peaks of Slieve Donard, Lugnaquilla, Carrauntoohil and Mweelrea in that order, in the counties of Down, Wicklow, Kerry and Mayo, respectively. We are trying to raise money and awareness for Teac Tom, a local suicide prevention charity from Kilkenny. Our charity challenge aims to raise awareness and funds to support all Teach Tom does in providing affordable and immediate services to help those struggling with their mental health or who have been bereaved by suicide. Any support and donations would be greatly appreciated and will be going towards such a great cause.

Their Story: The Thomas Hayes Trust CLG was established in February 2014 by Angela Hayes, her children, family and friends. In March 2011, Angela tragically lost her son Thomas to suicide. He was just 19 years old. Thomas took his life on the anniversary of his dad’s death, also from suicide, in 2002. Overwhelmed by her terrible grief but persevering for the sake of her children, Angela turned her tragedy into becoming a community activist when she realised the suffering within the community experienced by others in similar circumstances.
