My name is Raúl Sánchez Saura, and I teach Spanish at Somersfield Academy in Bermuda. Over the next year, I’ll be taking on my biggest walking challenge yet: 4 million steps by June 30th, 2027 — with a goal of completing 1 million steps each season.

This challenge is about much more than fitness. It is about community, solidarity, and supporting people in Bermuda who need it most.

I am raising funds for Bermuda Is Love, a grassroots Bermudian charity dedicated to social justice, mutual aid, food security, education, environmental action, and community care. Their work reaches people across the island through practical support and long-term initiatives that aim to build a fairer and more compassionate Bermuda.

The Goal

Alongside the 4 million steps, I hope to raise £500 GBP through this campaign. The platform makes it easier to collect donations in pounds rather than Bermuda dollars, and every contribution — large or small — will help support the work of Bermuda Is Love.

The Challenge

From now until June 30th, 2027, I will track every step using my pedometer app: 1 million steps in the spring, 1 million steps in the summer, 1 million steps in the autumn, and 1 million steps in the winter.

That means months of walking in the Bermuda heat, rain, wind, and everything in between — one step at a time, every single day.
