To Become A Mom - MRKH Syndrome

Hi, my name is Alison Coles and I was born with MRKH syndrome. This means I was born with an underdeveloped or no uterus. I am unable to have/carry a child of my own. I have wanted to be a mom since I owned my first baby doll. It is a big dream of mine that I continuously pray God allows it to be achieved. At first, it looked like I would grow old childless... until I became aware of the options available for me and my future spouse. The first is adoption. This child would not be blood, but it would for sure be loved like my own. Then there is having a gestational surrogate carry my child for me. With this, an egg would be taken from me and sperm from my spouse to then have the fertilized egg placed into the uterus of a woman able to carry the pregnancy. Finally something new in the medical world, a uterine transplant. This would be placing a donor's uterus into my body to allow me to get pregnant and carry a child of my own as naturally as possible. Unfortunately, all of these options come with an enormous price tag. Something that comes so easy for others, and free, has to be hard and expensive for people like me with MRKH.

I am a full-time college student working to be an elementary school teacher. I love to sing, watch movies, be creative, and laugh! I sing on the worship team at my church as much as I can because I feel the closest to God when doing so. I wanted to start this process now, knowing that the money won't all come at once. It takes patience, prayer, and hope. I want to be able to get to the age of wanting a child (hopefully within the next 2-3 years) and not have to worry about the cost affecting my choice/decisions.
