John French's Eagle Scout Food Drive Project
Donation protected
Hi my name is John French. I am currently working towards my “Eagle Scout” rank at Troop 392. Scouting is a huge part of my life. Throughout my Scouting career, I have served in multiple positions within my Troop such as ‘Patrol Leader’ and ‘Quartermaster’ along with serving as a Small Group leader in my church’s Jr. High ministry and often serve at “Feed My Starving Children”.
Many people in our community struggle to pay for food. Our community is in need of your help.
For my ‘Eagle Scout Project’, I will be running a community food drive. My goal is to collect 3 tons of non-perishable food and deliver it to the Schaumburg and Hanover Park food pantries in September.
The project consists of passing out 1,500+ empty brown paper shopping bags by volunteers to family, friends and neighbors. These volunteers will then collect the non-perishable food donated. All food collected will come together at the conclusion of the project on Saturday, September 10th where it will then be delivered to food pantries.
An option/alternative to collecting food is to raise money where the local food depository can use the funds to purchase food in bulk from the greater Chicago Food Depository. The funds raised will accelerate the achievement of the goal via bulk purchasing power by local food pantries.
All proceeds raised will be rolled over to the local food pantries so they can buy perishable & non-perishable food items.
Can you please help me?
Edit: Thank you for all of your support! I raised over 6,000 lbs of food and over $1,500 in donations. All of the food and monetary donations were distributed to the Hanover and Schaumburg Food Pantries.
I also received my Eagle Scout Rank.
Thank you again!!!
