We hope that you are doing well during this time. As you all know, we were planning to work with WISE, an organization for women in self employment, working mainly with low-income self-employed women and girls in Ethipioa, but due to the current situation, we have decided to turn our focus during COVID-19 to helping hairdressers and business owners.
COVID-19 has deeply affected the beauty industry that we so passionately believe in. And more importantly, as an industry, we bring so much happiness to people through what we do. Given our importance and the lack of assistance for small business owners through this crisis, hu•MANE has decided to pool together its resources and offer small grants to salon owners who have yet to receive assistance and to hairdressers out of work not able to receive government assistance at this time.
We are proposing a fundraising effort from those sectors of our industry that are still able to operate in an effort to raise monies and responsibly distribute amongst the most at need in our industry. If we can collectively prevent one salon from closing down then we have done an amazing thing.
Once we have finalized our 2 week fundraising effort we will distribute the monies as such:
RAISE UNDER 100K RAISE OVER 100K
$2500 grants to Salon Owners
$500 grants to Stylists
$5000 grants to Salon Owners
$1000 grants to Stylists
40% of money raised will be for Salon Owners
40% of money raised will be for Stylists
20% Administration fees for hu•MANE (application review, social media & labor)
It is our belief that as an industry we have the potential to raise at least $100,000. For every $100,00 we are able to raise we can help: 8 Business Owners 40 Stylists
