Help a Disabled Veteran Repair His Truck
Donation protected
My dad is a disabled veteran who spends his free time helping the community of Sheridan, often supplying free labor for those with limited means. He never turns away a person in need.
However, the tables have turned, and now he is the one in need. This morning, while driving the curve near Brighton Museum, he saw a young man speeding around the blind curve in a Dodge Challenger. Rather than take the car head-on, he directed his truck into the ditch, breaking the front axle in the process. He used what was left of his Social Security check to have it towed to the shop but has no idea how he's going to afford the repair.
He lives right at the base of Red Grade Road and absolutely NEEDS a vehicle to get safely up and down the mountain to get supplies and make his biweekly trip to check on my 87-year-old grandmother.
She wants to take out a loan to pay for the repair, but there's no way we could allow her to put herself in that kind of debt. So here we are.
I know I have social media full of people who love my dad and consider him a second father. My prayer is that enough people see this and contribute, that we can keep him mobile and keep my grandmother out of debt!!
He is a great man who doesn't deserve this karma. All because he knew his sacrifice would save a young man and his new car, he is now afoot, 30 miles out of town. Please consider helping us out with the mechanic bills and get my dad back in his truck!!
Thank you, everyone, for loving and supporting my dad as much as he did for us growing up!! Every little bit is appreciated....
UPDATE! As many of you know, my dad had back surgery at the beginning of the year. The impact of the accident has caused back pain that may have interfered with his surgery. He will have to go to the doctor to have his back reassessed, which may lead to medical bills as well. He has basic liability insurance, as his Social Security doesn't allow the budget for full coverage, and the kid in the car did not stop to offer help or insurance information.
