Children from Lac-Megantic

On July 6th, a 72-car train carrying crude oil crashed in my beautiful town of Lac-Megantic. The explosions and flames lasted for many hours into the night, shocking the city center and surrounding neighbourhoods. The flames engulfed several houses and le Musi-Café, the most popular bar downtown. Many residents of Lac-Megantic lost their lives on this tragic night, leaving behind children and loved ones. One month has passed since this accident devastated our town, and its aftermath continues to shake our community.

Marie-Christine and I are in the process of raising relief funds with the primary goal of building a new playground in the city center. We personally know many children who have lost on or two parents, and who were exposed to the explosions and flames that burned the heart of their city. While we are all deeply affected by this tragedy, our hearts go out to the children of Lac-Megantic who are grieving and coping with an acute sense of loss.

These children will soon be the new generation of our city, and we want to give them a place in town that will bring happiness and hope to their lives. We want this to be a space where families can share memories. We would like to offer a playground that will feature a mural created and drawn by a local artist. These children will participate actively in the painting of the mural. By giving them a beautiful park where they can play and grow as a young community, this will help the residents of Lac-Mégantic to rebuild and restore their lives.

Please take into consideration our altruistic cause, and help us by making this dream a reality for our town.

"We don't inherit the earth from our parents:. We borrow it from our children".
