Hi my name is Christine and I’m looking to raise money for LISN. In August this year, I was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a progressive long term liver disease. There is currently no cure or treatment specifically for this disease. I have been told by the amazing team in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin that I will need a liver transplant in the next 10-15 years. On top of that, I am now in the high risk category for a number of cancers especially liver, gall bladder and pancreatic. However, my only symptoms at present are extreme fatigue and pain in the right side of my abdomen so I am very thankful! The tiredness is on another level most days and the guilt of missing out on things is hard for some to understand but I am extremely grateful for the family and friends that I have rallying around me everyday. Without them I just wouldn’t be able to do the simple everyday things like just go to work or take Shaun Óg out for a walk. It’s been a lot to comprehend and very hard to stay off Dr Google!! Like everything, some days are better than others. But I recently discovered LISN, Liver Ireland Support Network, and they have been a great resource for help and information to me. They are a volunteer group all of whom have gone through a liver transplant. They set up in April 2024 and provide invaluable support to liver patients in Ireland. If there is anyone reading this who has or knows someone with a liver disease, I’d encourage you to contact them, they’re amazing and have first hand experience of what you’re going through. Because they’re so new and have already been so good to me, I would love to try raise a little funding for them. If you have anything to spare please click the link below. I know it will be put to great use for us liver patients. Thank you!
