Hi, my name is Catherine. I believe that when it comes to children, what's in the best interest of the children sometimes doesn't fit into what the parents want or try to get.
My niece, Jessica, has three daughters and a fourth daughter on the way. Her oldest daughter lives in Houston and Jessica and the father share custody of her. The youngest daughters and the baby on the way are from her current husband, Adam. They have been married for 5 years and were together for a couple of years before they got married. Looking at their pictures and hearing about her life, it appeared that they were very happy together.

Fast forward to April/May 2019, During a time of mourning (we lost two family members in one month), Adam decided that he no longer wanted to be married due to the fact that Jessica has a different set of beliefs than he does. Although many couples who have different beliefs make it work nonetheless.
Now when they first got together, he took her away from her family and her support system, moved her to California because of his job; then to Georgia because of his next job; and finally to New York, yes, you guessed it, because of yet another job. He travels 50% of the year due to his job. Now, he has filed for full custody of the children and the courts are requiring her to bring the children back to New York State by the end of July to the courts so that they can go before a judge and sort out temporary custody. If she can't get an attorney so that a response can be sent, she will be found in contempt of court. Add this to the fact that she is 8 months pregnant and the fact that he has all the finances, she can't afford to go back.
I am starting this gofundme to help Jessica hire an attorney. Since Adam did not want to be married, he kicked her out, sold their home, purchased a home for himself and has all the finances. Jessica was a stay at home Mom and took care of his home and their children for the entire marriage. He has allowed her the bare minimal of financial help but he himself has been able to hire an attorney; knowing that as he has all the financial control, she can't even begin to try and stand up for herself against him. Please help me give her a chance to fight for her children; to at least be on even ground with him in the courtroom. We have to hire an attorney as soon as possible in order to get a response sent back before the court date of July 31st.
This is her story in her own words:
On April 6th 2019, My Mom drew her last breath as I was holding her hand. Less than a month later, May 5th, my youngest brother also passed away. I never expected to hear, 5 months pregnant, mourning the loss of my Mom and brother, that my husband no longer loved me and could no longer be married to me at a time when I needed him most. My husband yelled and cursed at me, called me names and became extremely aggressive in front of our children and then proceeded to not speak to me for two days, so I left to attend my Mom's funeral and my brother's wake. I called my husband to let him know I was leaving and where I was going. I was hoping he would have a change of heart at my absence. After my brother's wake, my husband told me the kids would be better off with me because he travels up to fifty percent of the year for work. He also informed me he had sold our home. Having no home to come home to, I made a home for us here in Houston where I am surrounded with family and friends who love me and my daughters, as I am from here, including my oldest daughter, Reece. Adam came to visit for our oldest daughter's 5th birthday, and while down reiterated his lack of interest to pursue us. He told me on June 12th that his boss was open to him working remotely and that he was considering moving down and starting a business with my brother, Chris.
It was a complete surprise to be served divorce papers on July 18th, asking for full custody and requesting that I return to New York State with our daughters. I am now 8 months pregnant and can not move again due to stress on our unborn child and besides that, since he sold our home, we have no home to return to. I am being summoned to New York and if I do not return for the court date at the end of July, I can be held in contempt of court and my girls taken away from me. If you can help me obtain an attorney so that I can fight for my children, you have my eternal gratitude. Thank you in advance and God Bless You.
