Hello, friends!!!
My hard-working sister from another mister has found herself on a very long and frustrating road of horrible luck. I’m hoping to bring our community together to rally around her and show her some support!!! Here is her story….
It starts in 2023. Maya had purchased and was making payments on a GMC Terrain. It was good to her for a short time until the motor blew. The dealership was not willing to help, and unfortunately, she was (and still is to this day) stuck making payments on a car she could not drive.
At that time, Maya’s mom was shopping for a new vehicle and was able to give her Envoy to her so that she had a way to get back and forth from work. Unfortunately, not long after that, the power steering went out, and the car would not hold the proper oil pressure. She was back to the drawing board again!! She then decided she needed to pick up a second job in order to save money and put herself in something more dependable.
In the meantime, she was driving an old truck that was previously used only for the purpose of gathering firewood for their woodstove. This truck lasted maybe a month before the transmission went out, and she was back to scrambling, looking for something yet again so she could continue working both jobs.
Her next vehicle was a Hyundai that her dad had laying around, but this car had issues, too!! It was constantly locking itself and failing to start when she was ready to head to work. After so long, she decided she needed to look for something that she could depend on to start every time she needed it to. And that’s how she found herself in the Chrysler…
The Chrysler was actually working well for Maya until a snowy winter day. Unfortunately, she had an accident that smashed in her front end and left two doors unable to open as well as a dash that was lit up like Christmas morning…this car was no longer drivable!
Her next car was a Ford Fusion. Dad was able to save the day and help get her into this one! She was able to drive it for only three months before the transmission went out. Thankfully, by this time Maya had managed to save up enough money to buy something that was actually dependable, so she set out on a search.
After a while, she landed on a 2015 Impala. It looked like the previous owners had taken good care of it, and she even had her friend who is a mechanic look it over and drive it with her. So, she ended up purchasing the Impala only to find her dash light on a few days later. She took it to get a reading on the codes, which ended up being related to the engine’s crankshaft and camshaft being out of sync. The shop recommended she replace the Engine Variable Valve Timing, Timing Solenoid, Camshaft Synchronizer, Fuel Pump Control Module, and a few other things. After having the car for about a month, she ended up having to put an additional $1,200 into it only for the same codes to come back up again shortly after. This led the mechanic to believe that her timing chain needed to be replaced, but they wanted $400 just to look at it and tell her whether that was the issue. Then, the quote to replace the timing chain came out to $1,650.
For a 2015 with almost 200,000 miles on it, it is just not feasible to put more money into the car than it’s worth. She is currently having to share a vehicle with her mom to get to work, but this is very difficult as they both have jobs to get to and they live 45 minutes apart. She has depleted her savings on all these vehicles and really needs help getting back on her feet!!! I’ve watched SEVEN cars do her wrong over the short span of two years, and I just hate to see her struggling still when she’s been working so hard at both jobs to stay afloat in life.
Please consider donating to help Maya get back on her feet and end this streak of terrible luck! Any size donation will help, and of course, please SHARE!!! We appreciate your willingness to read her story and consider donating/sharing. LET’S GET MAYA INTO A GOOD VEHICLE ONCE AND FOR ALL!
