The Chivettes are here to once again ask for your love and support with our third annual Chivette Holiday Drive!! In the past two years, we’ve raised just over $30K for families that were in desperate need of not just financial help, but also a little hope and a little cheer during the holiday season. We’ve helped families across the nation and even some from Canada as well!! We’ve sent out hundreds of toys and gift cards, donated boxes upon boxes of food, given dozens of families relief, put a lot of smiles on faces and sadly, have also said tearful farewells to past recipients that were lost.

While we know that the amount of families that could really use some support is endless, we have chosen 13 families this year to be recipients of the holiday drive proceeds. There are just over 50 family members in total, including adults and kiddos. The Chivettes want to provide as much aid as possible but we’re also looking to give them a little Christmas cheer to help them out and try to end their year on a high note. These families were nominated through local Chive chapters and by Chive Charities. Each family is facing extreme hardship…illness, medical debt, loss of work, loss of their homes and all of the horrible in between issues that come along with facing these difficulties.

The situations these families have faced and are currently still facing are heartbreaking, but through it all, they’re still fighting and many of them still with smiles on their faces. With so much bad happening, they still stand tall but imagine what a little help would do for them this month? What do you say we give them a little relief?

We’ll be providing information and updates about the families that have been nominated throughout the month but we want to start by sharing the heartbreaking story of 8 month old Evan who was nominated by Chive Charities:

Evan is about 8 months old and has been diagnosed Aortic Corarction. Shortly, after he was born, Evan and his dad had to be air lifted from Elko, Nevada to Salt Lake City, UT to Primary Children’s Hospital where Evan received open heart surgery at only 5 days old. He is now home and is recovering but time will tell if he will need additional surgeries for this defect. For now, it’s certain that he will need lifelong follow up appointments with a cardiologist and unfortunately, the nearest cardiologist available is over three hours away. The family makes the drive on a monthly basis to make sure Evan is receiving the care he desperately needs. Evan has 3 older brothers, ages 3, 2, and 1. His dad is currently unemployed and has been caring for his 4 children at home. The family is in desperate need of financial support to help pay for travel expenses for them to travel to Evan's appointments.

The Chivettes would love to be able to help this family with travel expenses and with Christmas gifts for the whole family. They’ve been through so much in the past year alone and still have such a long road ahead of them. BUT we need your help to make that happen!! Even if you’re unable to donate yourself, word of mouth helps! Please be sure to share the campaign with everyone you know and help the word spread!!

When we first started this holiday fundraiser, I’m not sure we had any idea just exactly how much support we would get, though we shouldn’t have been surprised…we are Chivers and Chivettes after all and nothing makes us happier than beating the pants off of a fundraising goal. We really hope this year is no different!! Thank you all so much for helping make the world 10% better!! We can’t wait to raise a glass to everyone on Christmas Eve after smashing our goal (and hopefully, we’ll have some post Christmas photos to share of smiling kiddo faces too)!!! KCCO!!!
