I write this with a broken heart, never imagining I would be in this position. On December 17th, my father was taken by ICE for no reason other than the color of his skin. My younger brother was waiting for him to pick him up from class, and he never showed up. Phone calls went to voicemail. Texts were left unanswered. You can only imagine the fear we all felt knowing he disappeared without notice.

Now I fear for his safety and pray that he remains strong. He is not a criminal. He is not a danger to anyone. He is a loving, hardworking father. A human being whose dignity and rights deserve to be respected. Watching my family be torn apart has been devastating, especially during the holidays, a time meant for your loved ones. Instead, we are living in uncertainty and fear.

Along with this emotional trauma comes an overwhelming and unexpected financial burden. We are now facing costly legal fees and related expenses as we fight to keep our family together and ensure my father’s rights are protected.
