In late October 2025, Jamaica was struck by Hurricane Melissa, one of the most powerful storms in the island's history. With winds reaching 185 mph and relentless rain, the Category 5 hurricane tore through communities - destroying homes, flooding towns, and leaving thousands without power, clean water, or shelter. Coastal areas were devastated, crops and fishing boats were wiped out, and landslides cut off roads, isolating families in desperate need of help.
