The Rise Sri Lanka is a campaign created by Sri Lankan Student Societies in Sydney from the universities - Macquarie University, Sydney University, Western Sydney University, University of New South Wales and the University of Technology Sydney!

Sri Lanka, has been severely affected by Cyclone Ditwah bringing the worst flooding since the early 2000's. According to the UN nearly one million people were affected and more than 4000 people are reported dead or missing. Cyclone Ditwah unleashed severe flooding and landslides across the country causing severe water shortages, power cuts across the island, limited access to basic necessities and destroying over 2000 homes, resulting in individuals in need of emergency shelters.

As students who call Sri Lanka their heritage and many our motherland, this fundraiser is deeply rooted in our hearts, endeavouring to help this nation get back on its feet. All donations small or big are welcome, and will significantly aid the people of Sri Lanka and reignite hope and rebuild their livelihood. Our goal is to raise $5000 AUD to support people in need and will be used for water and medicinal needs in scarce areas.

The funds collected from this fundraiser will be directly donated to people impacted by this disaster in partnerships with the Rotaract Club of Colombo South and Sri Lankan Red Cross!
