Gary Williams Having FAITH

Dear Go-Fund-Me Donors,

In 2008 my nephew Gary was severely injured in a horrific auto accident. Gary is a single father to his 7-year-old son Derek. It has been a long journey of multiple surgeries, rehabilitative therapies & a traumatic brain injury. Things were getting stable until one day in 2020, when Gary suffered a stroke & meningitis. Derek then 5, called 911 and saved his dad’s life. They have endured a difficult road. August of last year, Gary had pain in his head along with physical problems. Fluid began collecting on Gary’s brain so a shunt was put in. February of this year things took a turn for the worse. Gary began to endure tremendous pain in his neck. After 3rd ER visit, he was admitted to the hospital where doctors ran tests and tried to address the pain. They said he would need to undergo an emergency surgical procedure. We were informed that he had suffered several strokes and had an abscess on his spinal cord. His C5 and C6 vertebrae would have to be removed and replaced with a “cage” & infection around his heart. Complications ensued. He is now having quadriparesis and is paralyzed from the neck down.

Gary & Derek will be moving into Mike & Mary Pat’s house Unfortunately this is causing them many challenges. This is where we are calling on people like you: Go-Fund-Me donors who are able to, and want to help. We need to make many modifications to the house – Doors need widening, carpet needs to be replaced with hard surfaces, complete bathroom redo and ramps need to be installed – things that insurance does not cover. We have some funds, but the need is more than we can afford. We will complete the work as inexpensively as possible, but we need to act quickly. Gary & Derek need this help to get thru this, the 1st of many long-term obstacles. They have had some extremely tough cards dealt to them and continue to fight for each other.
