Operation Rebuild: Mineral City VFD

Donation protected
We are raising money for the Mineral City Volunteer Fire Department which was destroyed by a tornado on Wednesday July 10, 2013 at approximately 4:50pm. This building also housed the Mineral City Senior Center which met Monday through Friday in the morning. The fire department has also been used for Christmas, birthday and graduation parties, it was even going to be used for a wedding of a couple members of the fire department in less than two months.

There were seven members of the department inside the building when the tornado hit. They only had time to set the tornado siren off for a fraction of the usual cycle before the building was hit by an EF1 tornado that completely destroyed the fire truck bay shown in the picture above, demolish a side wall and partially collapse the ceiling of the ambulance bay and seriously damage the rest of the roof. All but three of our vehicles are currently usable with minor cosmetic damage, but they are all repairable. Thankfully nobody was hurt in the tornado, but it appears that our building is a complete loss and we will need to rebuild.

All donations will go towards the Mineral City Volunteer Fire Department and Senior Center and also to help out any other members of the Mineral City community that have damages to their homes or businesses.
