Hello everyone- we are fundraising for Peyton Marie. On August 15th, we discovered Peyton had a brain tumor. She has a diffuse hemispheric gliomaH3G34 mutant variation.
My name is Megan, I am Peyton’s mother. The type of tumor Peyton has is fast growing, terminal, and seems to only grow in children: with a life expectancy of 18-22 months.
Peyton had surgery as soon as possible on the 18th for removal.
As many of you know: we went to Saint Jude’s in Memphis, Tennessee for 4+ months. Peyton received a 2nd surgery- after this surgery, she began losing feeling in her left side and as of now has difficulty walking. Radiation and chemotherapy followed after. 8 weeks of that treatment and then we were allowed to go home.
We had the most loving and kind people help us while we were away- we had a complete stranger pay our rent through our duration at Saint Jude’s so we would not be homeless when treatment ended. A woman who had never met us.
Bixby schools had been very kind through this entire process: calling and checking in on Peyton regularly.
January 9th- we went back to Saint Jude’s for an MRI and Peyton’s tumor had spread.
We were given “weeks, possibly months” … in January. Peyton has continued chemotherapy treatments and this has slowed the tumors growth. It is now almost July and Peyton is thankfully still here with us.
We have tried to stay with Peyton as much as possible and not depend upon hospice or others having to watch her. We are trying to be with Peyton for every moment we will possibly have left.
My spouse and myself have started working to keep the family afloat- but we are having to take off consistently for appointments, trips to Saint Jude’s, and while work is needed… we are trying to stay with Peyton. Take her to parks, take her swimming, continue enjoying life with her instead of working every moment away.
I understand that not everyone is in a place to give- I still appreciate any and all positive thoughts and well wishes.
To all parents & guardians: cherish your children.
Peyton Marie Ratliff passed away on December 5th, 2024. Her service will be at Stanley’s Funeral and Cremation Service on Monday the 16th at 6pm.
