Help for Sanchez Family

Hi Everyone,

 

I created this gofundme account for Kelly and Anthony to help them through a very difficult time in their lives. As you know on May 6th, Kelly gave birth via c-section to her two baby girls, Auden & Evren.

 

Kelly’s pregnancy was a roller coaster of an experience from start to finish. Their shock and excitement of finding out they were pregnant with identical twin girls quickly turned to anxiety and fear when they learned the twins were high risk due to sharing a placenta. Consequently, the twins had conditions called twin to twin transfusion syndrome and unequal placental sharing. The twin to twin transfusion syndrome was corrected early on in the pregnancy via surgery from a skilled doctor at UCSF. The unequal placental sharing however was not able to be corrected and the smaller twin, Evren, was not given a good survival rate per the multiple doctors. One doctor even said she did not think Evren would survive past 28 weeks. Evren defied the doctors expectations by hanging in there until Kelly was 30 weeks pregnant, which is when her portion of the placenta became inadequate and her life inside the womb was in danger. The doctors made the decision to have the twins delivered via c-section in order to save Evren’s life.

 

The twins were born on May 6th weighing 3 pounds 9.5 oz and 1 pound 3.4 oz. Kelly and Anthony both knew that they were in for a long nicu stay but had high hopes of bringing both twins home eventually. Unfortunately, just a day shy of being a week old, Auden, the larger twin passed away from complications related to necrotizing entercolitis.

 

Evren continues to defy all odds that were given to her, and is steadily growing in the NICU. My goal with this gofundme is to help Kelly and Anthony with expenses related to Auden’s death and the ongoing expenses related to traveling back and forth from the NICU to visit Evren. If we could all pull together enough funds to cover Auden’s cremation and possibly help with gas, bridge toll and parking for their (multiple) weekly visits to CPMC (they live in Benicia so it’s a 76 mile round trip drive), I think that would help them out immensely.

 

Thanks so much for reading their story. I know there is nothing that can relieve their pain from losing a child, but I’m hoping friends, family and anyone else who’d like to contribute can come together and help lift some weight off of the Sanchez’ financial obligations at this time.
