Hi, I’m Helena and I run Moon and Meadow Rescue in the Netherlands.

I work closely with trusted rescuers and shelters in Dubai, China, and Qatar, helping dogs that have been abandoned, dumped, or left with no safe options. When there’s a chance to get a dog out safely, I organise everything needed to bring them to the Netherlands legally so they can go into foster care and then be matched with the right forever home.

Rescue is not just “saving” a dog. It’s paperwork, vet care, timing, transport, and real costs that add up fast. And while adoption fees help, they rarely cover the true cost of getting a dog to safety, especially with international rescues.

That’s why I’m asking for support.

What your donation will be used for

Dogs (Dubai, China, Qatar → Netherlands)

Veterinary and legal requirements

• Vaccinations (including rabies)

• Microchip

• Health check and any required treatments

• EU pet passport and paperwork

Travel and transport

• Flight costs and airline pet fees (varies by route and dog size)

• IATA travel crate

• Transport to the airport and handling costs

• Import related fees and admin (where applicable)

Care after arrival in foster

• Food and essentials (beds, leads, harnesses, bowls)

• Flea and worm treatment

• Emergency vet care when needed

Horses (ongoing care)

I’m also responsible for horses who need consistent care and stability.

• Boarding is €250 per horse per month, which includes food and daily care.

Typical rescue costs (so you can see where the money goes)

Every case is different, but to give a realistic picture:

Per dog (typical range depending on route, size, and requirements)

• Vet care + passport + paperwork: often €150 to €500+

• Crate and travel requirements: often €80 to €300+

• Flight / transport: can be several hundred euros or more

Per horse

• Boarding: €250 per month per horse

Where the money goes

Donations will be used for:

• Dogs currently in my care in the Netherlands

• Dogs being prepared for travel from Dubai, China, and Qatar

• Support for the partner shelters and rescuers doing the hard work on the ground (when I’m funding specific dogs from their care)

• Horse boarding costs so I can keep them safe and stable

Transparency

I will post updates as dogs move through the process (vet visits, paperwork, flights, arrivals) and share receipts where possible. Every euro is used for rescue and care.
