3D Printed Face Shields for IOW community

Hi all,
As we know the Covid-19 virus has affected the supply of PPE to those who need them the most. As I am one of the many people in the UK who have been told to self-isolate for 12 weeks due to having 2 kidney transplants, I thought is there was a way I could help the Isle of Wight Community of key workers while having to stay home all day.
Currently we have produced and distributed free of charge over 1300 face shields to those who are in desperate need, or whose supplies will not be able to last them for much longer. The places that have received them have varied from care homes to funeral directors and even GPs who should not be worrying about how they are going to protect themselves or their patients.
After putting a call out to the 3D printing community on the Isle of Wight, we have received many messages of kind people asking how they can help and offering to help print the headband of the face shields. We have also asked for donations for the acetate that we are using for the shield, which many people have offered to give.
We started doing this in my own home with my family helping me, we did not expect the response we have got from people wanting to help or who are in need of the face shields. We are unable to meet the demand of people asking, as we run out of materials between the lovely donations we get.
Many people have approached us offering support by offering donations to allow us to carry on making them. This is the reason why we have created this GoFundMe page to allow people to donate if they wish or show support. The donations will go towards making more of the face shields who are in need of them the most. Which include buying the materials for the various volunteers who have offered their 3D printing services free of charge. It will also go towards buying more of the acetate for the clear shields. Any donations remaining will be donated to an Isle of Wight local charity.

Please note:These face shields are NOT medical grade. There are being produced at our own home and are for single use only. They are just a 3D printed headband that is widely available design and a sheet of acetate friction fitted to the front. They have passed infection control at the local hospital but have not been tested by the relevant authorities who produce PPE. The appropriate PPE needs to be used in conjunction with item and therefore we do not give guarantee's or accept any responsibility whatsoever that they are safe to use or will provide the protection required. These are only being produced at this time due to the severe lack of appropriate PPE available and will cease when this COVID 19 situation resolves.
