Back in 2021 I was the Mayor of Prescot when Covid hit. A large part of the Mayors job is to raise funds to distribute to worthy causes both locally and further afield. All public meetings were banned and fundraising was particularly difficult so I decided to do a solo 10 mile March from Prescot to Liverpool. Boy was it boring but I did the job in under 3 hours and it helped me raise much needed funds for the community.
Fast forward to 2024 and I was elected Mayor again so I decided to revisit this challenge. However this time I decided to do it with my friends! But to make it a bit harder we visited 10 pubs on the way via South Liverpool! 21 of us set out but only 19 completed the challenge of the Mayors March 2024. It also took considerably longer than the original 3 hour March.
Now we are about to do it again on May 10th 2025 but this time going via North Liverpool, Anfield and Bramley Moore.
All funds raised will go directly to worthy causes, some large like Breast Cancer, Prostrate Cancer, Willowbrook Hospice and many more to smaller local organisations. I am also recreating the Mayors School Shoes fund which enables primary schools to help those in need to provide free school shoes.
We will also once again be accompanied by Steve Cruse, the founder of https://amputationfoundation.org/
In February 2008, during a journey through New South Wales, Australia, Steve encountered a life-altering event: a significant road traffic collision that resulted in him becoming a bilateral transtibia amputee. This ultimately led him to create his foundation which is still going strong and helping many people.
Every little helps and every penny goes back into the community so if you are able please donate.
Many thanks.
