A Mother's Right

Hi, my name is Alyssa and I'm fundraising for my good friend Brittney. I first met Brittney in October 2017 when she was in recovery completing 6 months in the drug rehab program at Hope City. She had lost her children in February 2017 because of a loss of stability and her addiction. With the help of God, Hope City and a transitional program, Brittney worked super hard at changing her life and was reunited with her children in 2019. I was a witness to her incredible journey and now have the pleasure of calling her my friend.

Today I'm reaching out asking for everyone's help. When Brittney first got her kids home in 2019, she was dating a man, who is not her youngest son’s biological father. I will call her youngest son “L.” L’s biological dad had been absent since her pregnancy. Even after Brittney and her ex broke up and Brittney married her husband James, she still allowed her ex to visit L. After Brittney made the careful decision to stop visits between L and her ex, her ex filed a petition in court seeking third party custody of L and he is suing her for his attorney fees. By the grace of God she was blessed with an amazing attorney, but there are still fees she has to pay for the case. Those fees include mediation cost, deposition cost and cost for a guardian ad litem (GAL). She has successfully been able to pay the money for the mediation, deposition and a small portion for the guardian ad litem. The start up cost for the GAL is $1,000 deposit and could cost up to $3,000 or more for the case. In the midst of Brittney trying to pay for this, she and her husband are still providing for a family of 7. I'm asking that everyone consider donating to help with this final cost, so that Brittney can do what she knows is right for her son and keep him where he has said he wants to be.
