UPDATE: 10/17/25 We are still plugging along here in the Berger house. Chuck is still doing his therapy 2x a week and goes back to see his surgeon in November. The therapist has been trying to get Chuck in to see the doctor earlier than that tho as she is quite concerned about his hand. There is still significant swelling and his index finger still doesn’t bend at the first knuckle (the one at the hand). And his knuckle to his index finger and middle finger are numb. There may also be nerve damage to his thumb. We have also noticed some discoloration to his hand, which even the therapist said isn’t normal.
Thank you to all that have donated so far and the many thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE: 10/07/25 Chuck has been going thru therapy 2x a week for his hand injury. Today the therapist told him she is going to talk with the surgeon because she is worried about his index finger. He can’t bend it at the knuckle to his hand. There is a screw head that can be felt thru his skin at that knuckle and the therapist has a feeling he may need to have surgery again to fix that . I seriously hope that’s not the case. Please send many prayers for a speedy recovery for him. This not being able to work is really taking its toll on him.

Hello everyone! Not everyone knows this but in September 9, 2025 at about 6pm Chuck had an accident while at work. He was hooking up a grain bagger to a tractor and the hitch of the bagger popped up and smashed Chucks right hand between it and the PTO shaft of the tractor. He had an extensive injury to his hand (which is his dominant hand).
He ended up having basically an emergency surgery that night which went into the next day. He was in surgery for about 2-2 1/2 hours. He now has plates and screws in his hand. Two bones in the top of his hand were affected:
1. The bone leading up to the pointer finger were crushed in 8 places.
2. The bone leading up to the middle finger was broken in 2 places.
So, now he will be out of work for approximately 6-10 weeks if not longer.
I decided to do this as we will be needing help getting our bills paid with only myself working. I will post updates as we go along with hand therapy and such.
Thank you all in advance for any help, thoughts or prayers as we go thru this.
