Dear Students, Alumni, and Community,

We are Grupo Folklórico de USC, a community of 40 students who carry forward the vibrant tradition of Mexican folk dance. Through our annual Día de los Muertos and Sones de mi Tierra showcases, we honor our ancestors, celebrate our heritage, and create spaces of joy and belonging for Latinx students and the greater Los Angeles community.

This year, our Día de los Muertos Showcase is planned for November 22 (tentative). But due to pending recognition status, we are currently not eligible for campus funding. Just weeks away from our showcase, we face a financial challenge: stage, chair, and tent rentals amounting to $5,000. Without support, our fall and spring showcases are at risk.

In a time when immigrant and Hispanic communities are facing fear and uncertainty with ICE raids and policies that threaten to divide us, spaces like ours are more important than ever. Our showcases are not just performances; they are affirmations of identity, resilience, and unity. They are moments where students, families, alumni, and community members stand together and proudly say:

“Estamos aquí y no nos vamos.”

We ask you to consider donating to ensure our traditions and voices continue to thrive on campus. Your support will help us keep our culture alive, create safe spaces of belonging, and show the next generation of students that their heritage is celebrated, not silenced.

Queridos estudiantes, exalumnos y miembros de la comunidad,

Somos el Grupo Folklórico de USC, una familia de 40 estudiantes dedicados a preservar la tradición del baile folklórico mexicano. Nuestro Showcase de Día de los Muertos el 22 de noviembre (tentativo) es más que una presentación: es un espacio de sanación, unidad y orgullo de nuestra herencia.

Este año enfrentamos retos financieros inesperados, con gastos de renta de escenario, sillas y carpas que suman $5,000. Sin apoyo adicional, la realización de este evento está en riesgo.

En tiempos donde nuestras comunidades inmigrantes e hispanas enfrentan miedo e incertidumbre, nuestros eventos reafirman:
