​A Sudden Crisis: Protecting Hudson's Future

​The last two years have been an emotional rollercoaster. The exciting news of my first pregnancy soon brought a wave of worry when a smear test revealed cervical cancer cells. We pushed forward with positivity, knowing treatment would have to wait until after the birth of our son, Hudson.

​But just 11 months ago, our world took another sharp turn.

​Hudson was diagnosed with Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR), and after continuous, crippling urinary tract infections (UTIs) since he was just 3 weeks old, his tiny kidneys have taken a serious hit. We are now battling to protect the remaining function he has:

​His right kidney is scarred for life and only operates at 13% function.

​We've been told that if this drops below 10%, doctors will have to remove it completely.

​We are fighting to save that vital 13\% and protect his future.

​The Race Against Time: Surgery and Constant Care

​To stop the reflux and save his good functioning kidney, Hudson needs an urgent procedure called a ureter reimplantation.

​In the meantime, his care is constant and complex. as He requires:

​Kidney Dialysis Treatment: Twice a month to clear toxins from his blood.

​Regular Hospital Visits: Monthly trips to pediatric specialists for observations, bloods tests, and scans.

​Constant Medication: A daily antibiotic to fight and slow down infections. (Trimethoprim)

​This level of care means constant trips back and forth to Southampton Hospital. to visit a pediatric specialist This brings us to our immediate, essential crisis.

​Our Urgent Need: The Loss of Our Lifeline

​For us, our car isn't just transportation—it is Hudson's ambulance. It is the only reliable way to get him to his lifesaving dialysis, regular appointments, and the critical reimplantation surgery that is being scheduled. It is essential to protecting his one working kidney.

​Tragically, after less than a year of owning it, the car suffered a catastrophic wet belt failure. The engine timing is completely ruined, and a garage has effectively written it off. It needs a full engine replacement, a new clutch, and a new timing belt/water pump and labour.

​With finance still on the car, we cannot simply scrap it and walk away. We are now facing the devastating prospect of being left with monthly payments and no car to get Hudson the care he needs. Taking time out of work to look after Hudson has made it impossible for us to fund this massive and unexpected repair ourselves.
