Winter Fundraiser for Community Fridges Toronto

Donation protected
As we approach the coldest months of the year, our network of fridges and pantries across the city require more support than ever. The cost of living in Toronto has soared, and with that so have the number of people in the city affected by food apartheid.

This network of community fridges aims to provide low-barrier access to food and personal care items through community care, rather than top-down charity models. We do not police who uses the fridges or how much someone takes—we believe in upholding the dignity and wellness of all community members. While we encourage our community to put food in the fridges whenever they can, the network uses donated funds to fill the fridges and pantries.

With community donations, we contribute to the fridges while keeping community asks in mind—halal, kosher, vegan, and easy-to-open options are included in our hauls. Donated funds go to maintain and repair our fridges, which can be especially challenging in the winter months as the fridges and pantries are exposed to harsh weather conditions.

We understand that everyone is struggling and we are not asking anyone to donate if they do not have the means—simply sharing our GoFundMe link helps a lot to get our message out. Thank you to everyone who uses and contributes to the fridges and pantries—this helps to keep this important network going.
