Help Hamza & his family through the winter

My name is Laura, from the Netherlands. About 4 years ago I travelled to Jordan and stayed in a (tourist) camp in the desert (Wadi Rum). The place was magical and the people were even more beautiful. Here I met Hamza, his wife Bouchra, and their kids Fasl and Hussein. We spend a few days at the camp and I felt right at home. Playing with the kids, dancing, hiking, eating the most delicious food. It was an emotional goodbye, but we became friends ever since, and we met many times after that.

I learned that Hamza's family is originally from Syria, they fled to Jordan in the hope of getting a better life. They lived in a refugee camp in Mafraq, but ended up in a tourist camp in the desert, where Bouchra worked as a chef and cleaning lady, and Hamza worked with the tourists.

They lived a basic life, but it was ok. But now that there is a war in Israel/Palestina, tourists stopped coming to Jordan. And now there is no more work in the camp. Hamza and his family needed to move back to the north, and again the whole family lives in a small tent, which doesn't even cover their basic needs. No heating, just some blankets.

It is wintertime now in Jordan. It is cold, and there is no money for food or to rent a house. They also have a 1 year old baby now.. They really need money to cover their basic needs. All they want is to feed their kids and keep them warm. This is the most hard working, kind family I know. And I would love to surprise them by gaining some money, to at least get them through the winter. And to give them some time to maybe find a house and a new job.

Since there a so many refugees in Jordan, it is not easy to find a job. And if they find a job, they usually earn minimum wage (about 300-400 Dinar), and they usually provide for the whole family. I choose €1.500 as the goal of this fundraiser, because they could cover their basic needs with this money, for at least the next three months (the coldest periode in Jordan).
