My sister, Kathy Darcy Roberts, had a milestone birthday recently. Many came out to show her love, but people continue to ask how they can be of help to this family.
It’s been a tough year. Kathy’s ovarian cancer diagnosis in September of 2022 was shocking as she went from traveling and walking two miles a day, to being a “stage 4” cancer patient with fluid around her lungs from metastasized disease - overnight. The “beast” has continued to plague her body by affecting her ability to eat and breathe.
Kathy is a person who has always served others. She worked at both Pocomoke Middle and Elementary Schools, became a certified school counselor, worked as an elementary counselor in Florida, then returned to the Shore to counsel kids at Worcester Prep, and Sussex Academy, and then worked back at the Career Center at Worcester Prep. The fight with this disease has kept her out of work for over a year now.
My birthday wish for her is that we could raise enough funds to give Kathy and Warren the gift of time. Warren has been working hard this year, but I would love to see him relax a little and be able to be home with Kathy, rather than making schedules for others to sit with her while he works. God only knows the final number of our days, but there is much to plan for in the coming weeks and months. They will not want our help, but our monetary gifts may allow Warren to take some time off and may help ease the weight of future expenses that they must endure.
We have been limited in how to help this beautiful family. They are a family that suffers from allergies, so we have not been able to do meals or flowers for them. Warren and the kids have all rallied around Kathy and I’d like to give friends and family an opportunity to rally around all of the Roberts.
Please wish Kathy a “Happy Birthday” and if you are able and feel led to do so, support them with a financial gift.
Our most precious resource remains prayer. The prayers that have been offered on her behalf this year have been immensely appreciated and we ask that you continue to “pray without ceasing.”
Thank you for your prayers, kindness, and support.
With much love,
