Ben’s Medical Bills

Donation protected
This is for my brother Ben Leas. Ben is one of three amazing Brothers that I have been blessed with.
But, my brother Ben has dealt with various illnesses his entire life and he’s only 23 years old.

At 11 he was diagnosed with encephalitis: swelling of the brain or (infection of the brain)
At 14 Ben was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and had surgery at 18 to remove his entire colon due to rectal cancer.

Ben and his wife LaRena were married in July 2018 and Ben has tried to keep a steady job *since before their wedding* but has been unsuccessful, still being plagued with digestive problems. He works part-time as a vehicle mechanic and is a ranch hand at their home in Deer Park.

Ben was admitted to Sacred Heart in Spokane WA on 8/15  to have many tests done to find out why he has such terrible swelling throughout his entire body (which was also causing him trouble walking) and because a blood test showed his kidneys were not functioning properly.

Yesterday, Ben was officially diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome.

His kidneys are releasing too much protein. Proteins keeps fluids within the vascular system (veins, arteries). So dumping proteins=fluids going out of the vascular system= swelling in legs, face, arms, etc. Not thriving, and not being able to grow muscles are the other symptoms. The doctor’s believe he’s had this since before his colon was removed.

It causes the heart, kidneys and liver stress because they are on overload. If left untreated it will lead to kidney failure, as well as heart and liver issues.

Today (8/16) the goal is finding out what type of nephrotic syndrome he has (though still exploring other options just in case) and what is causing it and how to treat it.
At 4:00 pm Ben goes under general anesthesia to have a kidney biopsy.
The Doctor’s are saying they will be keeping him for up to a week depending on the results of all of these tests.

Needless to say, this young family needs your help, as Ben is not able to work and LaRena is working every spare chance she can as a CNA (while she attends nursing school). They both have great Faith in God to get them through every trial and I've seen them praise God and persevere through Him in all circumstances. It’s amazing.
Your heartfelt comments and prayers are extremely important to them through this time, so please let them know when you donate and <whenever> you are able!

OUR FAMILY THANKS YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!
