As most of you know, Chris and Cameron lost their daughter Avery Jean last year on November 3.
In week 24 of her pregnancy, Cameron was admitted to the hospital with life-threatening symptoms, for which the only cure was delivery and she required an emergency c-section to save her life. Avery gave her life to save Cameron. Unfortunately, they have learned that Cameron’s heart cannot handle another pregnancy and they have been told that they won't be able to carry their own child.
After physically and emotionally dealing with this news, they have made the decision to move forward with a Gestational Surrogate, which means having a third party carry a baby that is genetically Cameron and Chris's baby.
To say the least, this is not a cheap endeavor. In California, the cost of a traditional surrogacy ranges between $80,000-$120,000. Cameron and Chris are doing what they can through their network of friends to try to forgo a traditional agency based surrogacy and keep costs as low as they can. However, after the medical bills from Cameron's 12 day stay in the ICU in 2017, and legal fees, surrogacy costs, medical expenses, travel, and all of the other costs that come with creating their baby before it is even here, the money they need just to have one baby is daunting.
There is no way to ask our friends and family to cover the cost of what Cameron and Chris will be facing in the upcoming months as they search for and start their path with a surrogate, but any contribution can help them along their journey.
Thank you for reading this and please share their story with your family and friends.
