Hi, my name is Tanya, and I am fundraising for my sister and brother in-law to Help them Rebuild their life, which is The Oasis Motel that is affected by

Unprecedented Flooding in Remote Queensland.

Three years ago, my sister in-law Nancy and her husband Paul moved to Thargomindah, a remote town in Central Queensland, to take over and rebuild The Oasis Motel. With 16 motel rooms, a main house, office, restaurant, function room, their goal - like many times before - was to restore the business, help the local community thrive. It's what they do, that's who they are.

But this time disaster struck.

The Thargomindah floods, which devastated outback Queensland in late March and early April 2025, were caused by record-breaking rainfall and the remnants of ex-Tropical Cyclone Dianne.

The town hadn't experienced a flood since 1974, and even that event didn't reach The Oasis Motel. The flood Nancy and Paul just endured rose over a metre higher than the '74 flood, engulfing every structure on the property.

The damage is devastating.

Every single building- motel rooms, main house, office, restaurant, all need new flooring, skirting, doors, cabinetry, beds, linen, electrical and white goods.

Because flood insurance for this remote location came with a hefty $25,000 annual price tag, it simply wasn't feasible for a small, low-turnover business like theirs.

Our family is now stepping in, Nancy's brothers & sister in-laws from Yeppoon & Brisbane & sister & brother in-law from the Sunshine Coast, will be making their way inland as soon as the roads are accessible. We'll be helping with the cleanup & bringing as many building materials & supplies as we can from Yeppoon & Brisbane, flooring, doors, skirting, cleaning products, linen, anything & everything we can fit in.

But the costs are enormous, and we can't do it alone.

Every donation will go directly towards the materials and essentials needed to restore this property & help Nancy & Paul reopen. They've always shown up for others.
