For the past few years, animal rescue has been at the center of my life. Here in Rhode Island—and across New England—rescues are stretched thin, overwhelmed, and doing everything they can to save animals who have nowhere else to go. I’ve fostered more than 20 dogs myself, and each one has shown me just how many animals are depending on people who are willing to step up.
That’s why I’m supporting this fundraiser. Although it benefits a larger nonprofit, my heart is with the small rescues and foster networks in our region who face enormous challenges every day. Many of the animals entering the system are victims of cruelty or neglect, and far too often, the consequences for harming them are minimal. Stronger protections and harsher penalties for animal cruelty are desperately needed, and I hope this fundraiser helps shine a light on that reality.
There’s another group of animals that isn't often thought of: pets displaced during ICE raids. Families are torn apart, and their animals are left behind—confused, frightened, and suddenly homeless. Local rescues quietly take them in, even when they’re already at capacity, because compassion doesn’t stop at circumstance.
I’m raising funds not just to support the work being done today, but to advocate for a future where animals in New England are safer, better protected, and never forgotten in moments of crisis. Every donation helps give these animals a chance at the life they deserve.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with the rescues who show up every single day.
