Best Friends Animal Society is a leading animal welfare organization dedicated to saving the lives of dogs and cats in America's shelters and making the entire country no-kill. Founded in 1984, we partner with 6,000+ shelters and rescues and operate the nation’s largest no-kill animal sanctuary. We maintain the most comprehensive animal sheltering data in the country and make it accessible to the public — empowering communities with critical insights into the needs of their local shelters and how they can help. We believe every dog and cat deserves a home. And we believe that, by working together, we can Save Them All®.     Double the bunnies, double the happy! The Bunny House at our Sanctuary had a fabulous family ready to welcome not just one bonded pair of bunnies, but TWO?! 🥹 And that’s exactly what happened! Endeavor and Lorenzo and Clooney and Santos have officially been adopted by one wonderful family and are headed to a wonderful home together. 🏡🐰🐰🐰🐰 We couldn’t be happier for these four sweet boys! 🧡

    Two months after losing their beloved dog Bull, Jess and her husband weren’t ready for another dog. “My heart was shattered. I was so lost,” Jess says. Introducing Pearl. She had been found wandering alone in the Arizona desert before One Love Arizona, a Best Friends Network Partner found her. They gave her a new opportunity through their Paws for Redemption program. For three months Pearl lived and learned alongside a team of incarcerated trainers that helped her build skills and confidence to help her find a home. Her next stop was only supposed to be a foster home for a few days, and Jess and her husband said yes. The very next morning Pearl walked over to her foster dad while he drank his coffee, sat on his feet and looked up at him. That's all it took. They knew Pearl was home. 🥹 Pearl is still making an impact after her own happy ending, even returning to visit the people who trained her. As for Jess and her husband, they say opening their home after losing Bull helped create space for unexpected healing of its own. “She needed us. As it turns out, we needed her just as much.”

    When our team in Northwest Arkansas was contacted by an overcrowded shelter about a dog named Rooney, they immediately took the call. Due to lack of space and Rooney being one of their longer-stay dogs with no adoption interest, he was sadly at risk of euthanasia. That's when our team's dog trainer, Dani, asked to come meet him and to give her an hour to get there. When Dani arrived, Rooney was what she'd expected — a big, goofy, lovable hound. She instantly agreed to take him back to our Pet Resource Center. What happened next was destiny. Rooney arrived at our Pet Resource Center at 12:30pm and by 5:00pm, he was out the door with a family. On the same day he was supposed to be euthanized, he got ADOPTED! 🎉
