Hi I’m Jason Tartick and was on my way traveling from Nashville to NYC, I was diverted to Raleigh where my flight was eventually cancelled. After a long day of travel, I took to social media to share my frustration about the situation. Shame on me because while I was complaining, there are workers who have been showing up every single day for 31 days straight without a paycheck, keeping our day-to-days safe and our lives in order.
After posting, I got a message from an air traffic controller that snapped me back into reality. It was the wake-up call I needed. She shared how she and her husband, both controllers, are continuing to work one of the most stressful jobs imaginable, with zero compensation, due to 31 days of the government shutdown.
Let’s turn that moment of frustration into action. Let’s raise a few dollars to show these incredible people that we see them, we appreciate them, and we’re grateful for what they do. Even when the government can't get their ducks in a row for the betterment of the greater good. Whether it’s coffee, lunch, dinner, or just a small act of kindness, every bit matters and every single penny raised will go to these workers as fast as I can humanly send it out once it comes in.
