2.000 Azulejos Roubados. Uma Comunidade Ferida. Ajude-nos a Restaurar a Ermida de Santo Antão. Desde 1386 que a Ermida de Santo Antão vigia Óbidos. Empoleirada no topo da colina, é muito mais do que um edifício. É o lugar onde a nossa comunidade se reúne, onde a memória e a tradição vivem, e onde a nossa identidade bate com mais força. Todos os anos, a 17 de Janeiro, o monte ganha vida. Acendem-se fogueiras. Assa-se o chouriço nas brasas. Partilha-se o vinho entre amigos. As pessoas dançam, rir e celebram um dos convívios mais autênticos e queridos da nossa terra. É aqui que os animais são abençoados e onde recebemos a fitinha cor-de-rosa que os protege ao longo do ano. Hoje, este lugar está em perigo, um crime devastador atingiu a Ermida de Santo Antão. Ladrões arrancaram mais de 2.000 setecentistas , cada um com mais de três séculos de história, deixando as paredes da capela partidas, expostas e profundamente marcadas. O roubo dos azulejos deixou a estrutura da ermida vulnerável. O telhado está a deteriorar-se, as paredes estão fragilizadas e, sem uma intervenção urgente, corremos o risco de perder Santo Antão para sempre.  • Restaurar as paredes e a estrutura danificadas; •Conservar os azulejos roubados e as pinturas do altar mor .

 • Reparar o telhado para evitar desabamentos; 

• Salvaguardar a ermida para que as gerações futuras se possam reunir aqui. 

Este projeto de restauro será apresentado oficialmente no dia 17 de janeiro, em parceria com a Câmara Municipal de Óbidos.  2,000 Tiles Stolen. A Community Wounded. Help Us Restore the Chapel of Santo Antão.

 Since 1386, the Chapel of Santo Antão has stood watch over Óbidos. Perched on the hilltop, it is far more than a building. It is where our community gathers, where memory and tradition live, and where our identity beats strongest. Every year, on January 17, the hill comes alive. Fires are lit. Chouriço roasts over open flames. Wine is shared among friends. People dance, laugh, and celebrate one of the most authentic and beloved gatherings of our land. It is here that animals are blessed, and where we receive the pink ribbon (fitinha cor-de-rosa) that protects them throughout the year. 

Today, this place is in danger.  In a single night, a devastating crime struck the Chapel of Santo Antão. Thieves tore out more than 2,000 hand-painted tiles, each over a century old, leaving the chapel’s walls broken, exposed, and deeply scarred. The theft of the tiles has left the chapel structurally vulnerable. The roof is deteriorating, the walls are weakened, and without urgent intervention, we risk losing Santo Antão forever. 

Why Your Help Matters If the chapel disappears, we do not just lose stone and tile—we lose a living tradition passed down for generations. We lose the place where faith meets community, where smoke from bonfires mixes with laughter, where the flavors of pine nuts, raisins, chouriço, and red wine are inseparable from who we are.

Every contribution will go directly toward: 

 Restoring the damaged walls and structure 

conserving the remaining tiles and restoring the altar paintings   Repairing the roof to prevent further collapse 

Safeguarding the chapel so future generations can gather here This restoration project will be officially presented on January 17, in partnership with the Óbidos City Council.
