For years, Sindy has been a quiet force of love, connection, and justice in our community. She has poured her energy into spaces that uplift, empower, and bring people together—whether organizing fundraisers for causes close to the heart or making sure others feel seen and valued. Her presence has always meant home for so many.
Now it is our turn to show up for her.
After more than 30 years of separation, Sindy finally has the opportunity to be reunited with her family—a moment long in the making, filled with love, healing, and hope. But this journey is not only about reunion—it is about safety and survival.
In a time when so many in our communities are facing rising violence, systemic injustice, and the constant threat of displacement, the urgency is undeniable. Sindy has navigated years of uncertainty under DACA, with the limitations of work authorization weighing heavily. These barriers have not only made it harder to build stability—they have left her vulnerable in moments when safety should never be in question.
Relocating now will allow Sindy to leave those obstacles and dangers behind, stepping into a life that is more tranquil, joyful, and secure. It is a courageous and necessary choice—but also a costly one. Moving across borders and beginning again takes resources, planning, and the support of a strong community.
While we will miss her presence deeply, this next chapter is one of return, renewal, and protection. Wherever she goes, Sindy’s purpose will remain rooted in justice, joy, and connection.
If you are able, please consider contributing to this journey. Every gift matters—whether $5, $20, or $200. Your generosity will not only help cover the practical costs of moving—it will also send Sindy forward surrounded by love and shielded by the care of her community.
