30 week old, Weston Riley Greer

Donation protected

If you don’t know me, my name is Lauren Prim (neé Kitchen) and my sister, Carolynn Greer, and her husband Robert (Bobby) Greer just had the blessing of their son, Weston Riley Greer, arrive in this world. The only difficult part is that his arrival was at least 9 weeks early!

After waking up around 1am, assuming she had food poisoning, Carolynn started walking to feel better and to make her stomach stop hurting. Around 8 am she finally woke Bobby to see if they should go to the hospital as the food poisoning wasn’t letting up and her back was hurting. The idea of a kidney infection came up and they went to the urgent care to see what they could do. After an hour of waiting, the urgent care sent them to the hospital as there was nothing they could do.

after arriving at the hospital everything happened extremely fast, nurses told Carolynn she was 10cm dilated with her baby coming quick. Because he was so early and his heart rate was dropping, they quickly put her under for an emergency c-section to get her baby out. It wasn’t the most graceful of operations for baby and mama and involved plenty of bruising on both sides but the staff was quick and delivered baby Weston quickly to the arms of a respiratory Dr who helped get him ready for transport to the downtown hospital with a NICU.

Baby Weston is doing well and is a strong3lbs 1oz and Carolynn was recovering well shortly after her operation. Even with the miraculous nature of her birth (very few women assume they ate some bad food while progressing to 10cm unassisted and at home) it wasn’t the birth she, Bobby or her family assumed she would have.

Thankfully they had insurance in place just at the start of the year, but even with insurance there are going to be numerous costs incurred. Between constant drives back and forth to the NICU everyday and the limited time they had to fully prepare for this baby, there are going to be many unknowns for them to face, especially financially while Bobby is still in flight school and Carolynn’s work will be limited.

I am setting up this fund to help them out financially and put them on a better foot forward as they wait for Baby Weston to grow over the next several weeks. Any donation will help and go towards Weston and Carolynn’s medical bills as well as support them in their daily lives as they get through this trying time together!

thank you so much,

Lauren
