On December 10, 2003, U.S. Army Sgt. Todd Bates made the ultimate sacrifice in Baghdad, Iraq while trying to save the life of a fellow soldier.
Todd’s journey to service was marked by determination. Before enlisting, he faced many challenges—including losing over 100 pounds to meet the Army’s fitness standards. He did it the hard way, strapping on a ruck and walking the hills of his hometown, Bellaire, Ohio.
Each fall, we honor Todd’s memory and his sacrifice the way he lived—with grit, endurance, and heart. We strap on our rucks and walk long miles in his name. This year, we’ll trek 30 miles from Galloway, Ohio to Powell, Ohio, crossing three counties to raise awareness and funds.
Proceeds from this event will support mental health services tailored to Military Members and First Responders—the heroes still with us who face invisible battles every day.
By donating or joining us, you help keep Todd’s legacy alive while making a real difference for those who serve.
