30 in 30.... Fast on your own, Further Together.

Hello, my name is Jon.

Sport, activity and adventure have been part of my life from a very young age. The physical challenge, the excitement of the moment and the natural high you feel when you are pursuing that Fastest Known Time on your own, or sharing an outdoor experience with friends and family, I think, is the gift of life and so important for our mental and physical health.

Over the last 40 years I have been fortunate to experience many life-changing experiences; hiking and climbing mountains in Scotland and the Lake District, taking on Cycling challenges for Charity in South Africa, The Swiss Alps, Italian Alps, French Alps, Kayaking in Nepal, …. These shared experiences with my friends, family and colleagues bring the reward from training hard, working together towards the same goal and achieving great things, whilst making memories that will be engrained forever in our minds.

In August 2022, I faced the greatest challenge of my life in a very different form. I was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Grade 4 Brain Tumour, and given 18 months to live.

The enormity of the challenge ahead was unprecedented but I have been determined to give it everything I have. Following surgery, radiotherapy and on-going chemotherapy I am still fighting this incurable disease and will continue to do so with the love and support of my family, friends and colleagues at work.

This year will be the 30th Anniversary of my Company Lowe Electrical, and my aim is to raise £30,000 for the following charities; Macmillan Cancer Support and LOROS for their invaluable dedication and support to so many families, and, small adventure companies who provide outdoor experiences and adventures to children and young adults whom need financial assistance.

From provision of equipment such walking boots and rucksack for the Duke of Edinburgh Award, to the supply of new kayaks, I hope to be able to support, share my love of adventure and the great outdoors, and encourage future generations to enjoy this gift of life.

As a Company, Lowe Electrical actively support mental health and well-being through the virtues of sport and spending time outdoors. We regularly sponsor local teams and individuals on their quest to pushing themselves further and enjoying the benefits that sport gives.

I will add to the list of events as they are planned, the events we have planned to date are:

May 2025
24 Hour Golf Challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support
Tom, Joe and Jamie are playing 72 holes of golf on 29th May at Beedles Lake Golf Course starting at 04:50 and finishing at c. 21:30 and taking on the Longest Day Golf Challenge to help support people with cancer.

May 2025
6 Day Pack Raft River Run on the Soča River, Slovenia
The Senior Management Team will be Rafting in Slovenia for 5 days down the Soča River. This will be a challenge like no other and require skill and endurance down the white water descent. The European Packrafting Meet-up has always had the core element of River Conservation for the Balkan river system and protecting areas of natural and ecological importance. The Soča River is one of the last remaining truly wild rivers (not dammed) in Europe and is often referred to as the blue heart of Europe.

August 2025
Hiking the Tour de Mont Blanc
The Senior Management Team will be walking from Chamonix in the French Alps across the foothills of Mont Blanc over 6 days. The 170km Tour du Mont Blanc trek is steeped in history and dramatic beauty. Winding through France, Italy and Switzerland the trek has a maximum altitude of 2670m.

Thank you for your generous support, and any donations are greatly received and news and updates will be posted on the Lowe Electrical website on a regular basis.

The money that will be raised will be held in our 'Adventure Therapy Fund' for access beyond the first 12 months of its existence for Grant Applications, further information will be available on the Lowe Electrical website.

Best wishes,
Jon
