I’m reaching out to friends and family this holiday season to help my cousin, Preichelle.
Imagine being a single mom to a beautiful baby girl and finding yourself homeless. Having grown up in and out of foster care, you have now aged out of the only support system you have known by age 22. With no one to turn to and expensive child care costs, you haven’t been able to save up for an apartment. You’re sleeping in your car with your little one who is still in diapers. Every night fearing being caught by police and having your daughter taken from you.
This is the nightmare my cousin, Preichelle has been living in. We reconnected recently and it broke my heart to hear what she has been going through. As a new mom myself, I can’t imagine going this alone.
She really wants so badly to give her little girl the best life possible. Living on the street is no place for a young mother and her baby girl.
If you're feeling the holiday spirit and want to help someone this season please consider giving to Preichelle and her 18 month old daughter. I've found her temporary shelter, but it is for a very short amount of time. The funds will go to getting her an apartment, a few furnishings, food and diapers. She will be so grateful for the help.
