My brother-in- law, Dwayne, was diagnosed with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1 (MEN1) just before his wedding in October 2024.
MEN1 is a rare genetic disorder that has led to several tumours within his body, one leading to aggressive stage 4 cancers that has spread throughout his body.
Despite undergoing a ten-hour surgery to remove a tumour in his chest, followed by ongoing intensive chemotherapy, the prognosis remains uncertain.
The treatment will not cure him, though it may extend his time with us all. Dwayne and Bec have three young children, Payten (6), Lincoln (3), and Tobias (2), who face a 50% chance of inheriting this condition. Dwayne’s eldest daughter, Milayah (10), has already been diagnosed with MEN1. The emotional, medical, and financial burden is overwhelming. We are seeking support to cover the costs of ongoing treatment, and to ensure quality time together as a family, creating memories for their children to hold onto. Your generosity will help them navigate this challenging journey, (especially as Dwayne is the main breadwinner and unable to work), and provide hope for our children's future. Thank you for your support.
