Hi, my name is Carolina. I am a mother of one very handsome son. My partner and I have been through thick and thin just to make sure our son has his bare necessities. We’ve been homeless and even moved 1,000 miles away from our home to make sure our son had a roof over his head. It all started with a very horrible private landlord we had. This was our first apartment and by the grace of God was able to get in our own home for the sake of our son. We paid monthly rent and even kept our home in tip top shape. As I was in the hospital, after giving birth to our son, this Slumlord had intentions of evicting us on accusations of us not paying the previous months rent. Which was a in fact a complete and utter lie. We were able to get things sorted and stay in our apartment. The same very thing happened again months later! At this point we were fed up and just wanted justice for our family, as we were doing the right thing and had missed no payments of rent. We had every single receipt! However, this is a whole different story for another time. There are so many more critical details that goes into that situation itself. By May of 2024 we were left with no where to go due to the wrongful termination of our lease. At this very time i was able to pay for a couple nights at a hotel for my family to stay in. After that we had been doing instacart daily just to buy a hotel room for us all to lay our heads down in. There were a couple nights we had to sleep in the car that’s how bad things got. Constantly cramped up in a small car was not healthy for any of us. This was ongoing for 4-5 months of our life. The same routine everyday of reserving hotels just to make sure we had one, and again there were some nights we weren’t able to make ends meet. Several days and nights my partner and I went with without eating just to make sure our son had formula and baby food. At that point in our life we had no benefits of snap/ebt. We did everything ourselves, pushing each other to keep going. We had no support system. Then one day, our biggest fear happened. The instacart account we were using to earn money, closed! On a Friday! Getting a hotel on a Friday is already very hard to do especially when you do not have a reservation. We locked in our reservation like we always did as soon as we checked out. However this day was very difficult for us. Without a way to make money we had nothing! We tried everything! At this point, we were ready to call it quits. We turned to our last resource which was social services. We sat there for hours! Hungry, deprived, and restless. We finally got called to the back office and explained everything in good detail. They placed us in a temporary hotel for a few days over the weekend. By Monday morning, I received a call for us to go to our new “house”. This apartment was by far one of the worst I’ve ever seen and lived in ever! Roaches everywhere, no ac in the middle of summer, and not even a sanitary bathroom to clean ourselves in. They painted over the tub and it was horrible. We were offered an opportunity to maybe make our lives better and fly to Florida to stay with my grandmother. We took that opportunity and here we are today. Almost a year being here and no job has hired me since. I’ve applied to more jobs than I can count. My partner as well! We’ve had no way of income and yet still make things happen. We were able to receive WIC, snap, ebt, and Medicaid after getting here and being consistent with the processes. I have no way of transportation and need to be able to get a car on the road, insure and register it. Living here with my grandmother I’ve received little to no help, and when I did get that help it was an argument because I need to be able to do things on my own. But if I could I genuinely would. I wanna be able to not just survive I want to live. My son, partner and I deserve to live life with no worries. We have a phone bill that is almost $600 that we cannot pay because we have no income. We were making ends meet by the grace of god. We would find things on the side of the road, clean em up and sell it on Facebook marketplace. That isn’t a very good source of income but it got us the things we needed and sometimes our wants were met too. We constantly walk on eggshells where we live now and just want to be able to be in the comfort of our own home and have financial stability. We deserve abundance and prosperity. If it’s possible I’d love to even have enough raised to move back to New Jersey and be around my sister and her family. If you made it all the way to the end. Thank you! I love you! This means more to me than you may think. We just want to have some things taken off our plate. We try and try and feel like we’re going in circles. If you can help and donate it would be greatly appreciated. This money would go straight to transportation and if there’s enough we will even put it towards phone bill and an apartment. Even if it’s just to be added to a waitlist. Anything helps. Again, if you made it this far, thank you, may god bless you and protect you.
