Kasey and Donovan Dargert IVF Fertility treatment
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Sarah and I am fundraising for Kasey and Donovan Dargert. They are high school sweethearts and have been together for 18 years, married for almost 10 years. They started dreaming of growing their family and decided to leave Portsmouth and buy a house in Virginia Beach about 3 years ago. However, after a year of trying for a child naturally, they started getting worried why they could not get pregnant. They have now been trying for a child for a total of 4 years. In 2019-2020 they spent approximately $3000-$4000 and went through countless testing, ultrasounds, procedures and hormone therapy. Kasey did get pregnant in October 2020 but unfortunately had a miscarriage the following month. The loss was devastating to the family.
After recovering and unsuccessfully trying the hormone therapy again, Kasey and Donovan decided it was time to seek a fertility specialist for more help. Kasey was diagnosed with Diminished Ovarian Reserve (DOR) "A condition in which the ovary loses its normal reproductive potential, compromising fertility."
The doctors first recommended IUI, which gives a slightly higher chance of pregnancy. This was unsuccessful. $2,700 later, the doctors are now recommending IVF (In vitro fertilization) as the next step. Although IVF is extremely expensive, the success rate is 35-50% on the first cycle and increases each cycle. The cost of each cycle ranges from $15,000 to $20,000 and there is a breakdown of the costs further below. The medication costs are NOT included with IVF treatments and have cost the Dargerts over $5,000 so far, none of which is covered by insurance.
IVF is Kasey and Donovan's best chance at having a child of their own. These two people are my personal best friends, and I know they would be the most incredible parents. They have made a wonderful home and beautiful marriage to bring a child into. I have seen the tremendous struggles they have been through this far and nonetheless still have hope. The biggest hurdle now is the enormous financial burden. I decided to make this fundraiser to help with that burden. Kasey and Donovan both were reluctant because they have worked so hard on their own to get where they are today. However, we all need help sometimes, and I am here to start that for them. I am so proud of them for putting their story out there and accepting help. There are many women and couples who go through fertility issues, which is not talked about enough. We ask for prayers, to share this on social media, and to donate if you feel called to. Thank you SO MUCH for your support. We appreciate ANYTHING you can give and if you can’t give anything at this time please SHARE because that can help tremendously!
Please see the pictures below for more information on the cost breakdown and exactly where donations are going. Feel free to reach out to show support or ask questions. We will update everyone regularly on Kasey and Donovan's journey to make a baby! #babydargert
