My name is Tabetha Butler and I am the director of the Ashville Free Library in Ashville, NY. We are a small rural library in the heart of Chautauqua County.  This past weekend, we held our annual book sale which is the major fund raiser we hold each year. This year was gearing up to be a banner year. Unfortunately, someone felt their needs were greater than the library's and stole approximately $800 out of our cash box. Now that may not sound like a lot, but to this small library, it is huge! We try to keep our costs down by employing only one person. The rest of the staff is comprised of very dedicated community volunteers. Now that money would have provided books for our community's children and their families!
