Tranquilo Needs Your Help!

We, at Sand Star Services, are embarking on a heartfelt mission to restore the Rudy & Paco's sea turtle statue, beautifully painted by Kathy Van Dewalli. This iconic sculpture, known as Tranquilo, has suffered damage twice in the past and is once again in need of restoration.

Did you know that there are over 50 stunning sculptures across Galveston? Tranquilo and it's friends are part of the "Turtles About Town" project, a joint effort by Clay Cup Studios and Turtle Island Restoration Network. Each one is a unique piece of art celebrating our connection to the sea and our commitment to sea turtle conservation on the Upper Texas Coast.

Sand Star Services is taking the lead in this restoration project for Tranquilo. We are not only repairing the statue but also building a protective fence to safeguard it from future harm. Your support, no matter the amount, makes a significant impact.
