A Home for Mbole Orphans
Donation protected
Janet Chinzhingu lives in Mbole Village in Northwestern Zambia. She is a pastor at the Redeemed Church and takes in orphans who are in need of care. Currently she supports 15 children between the ages of 4 and 9. Her church and her community help her look after the children by providing them with food whenever they are able.
I am an American living in Kalumbila, a town about 30km from Mbole. I met Janet two years ago and have been coordinating donations between Kalumbila and Mbole Orphanage since that time. We are providing the children with clothing, school uniforms and school fees, but what they really need right now is adequate housing.
Janet and all 15 children are living in the small two room mud brick home pictured above. Janet shares her one bed with a few of the smallest children and the others sleep on mats on the floor. We are trying to raise funds to build them a more modern four room house with a cement floor and a tin roof before the next rainy season begins in November. The new home would include a girls bedroom, a boys bedroom, a sitting room and a kitchen. The local sub-chief has already allocated the orphanage land close to the community water well and a short walk from the school.
If the full financial goal is reached we will also be able to build cement pit latrines and furnish the house with beds and mattresses. Janet, the children and the Mbole community would be so thankful for your support. Please donate if you are able and please share this with anyone you know that may be able to help.
Many thanks for your support,
Jody Tilbury
