Purpose:

After mentoring with various outreach programs, we have seen the direct need for positive role models in the majority of these student's lives. Our mission is to provide these students that have experienced some challenges with positive, encouraging role models that care about their future and well-being.

Procedure:

Using our school contacts, our plan is to get into the alternative schools and give a short pitch on our program to the students and then afterwards allow the students to apply for the program. We will then do our due diligence on the student and parent situation. Guardians must give permission for their student to enter the program. Once our volunteer mentors are assigned a student there will be requirements of the student in order to reap the benefits of the program. (ex. must have all passing grades, c is lowest acceptable grade, must complete 4 community service hours per report card period, must have 1 sit down goal setting dinner with mentor per reporting period, must be adhering to the behavior guidelines that will be agreed to before program starts.). At the end of each reporting period, if all criteria above are met, each mentee will receive a new pair of shoes of their choice. These shoes will be purchased with the funds from donors.
